The Majors 2025

Well, another year of Major's has slipped by again. It always feels like they are over too quickly, especially with so much of the golf season left to play. It was an interesting year of Major Championship golf. Rory winning The Masters was perhaps the most dramatic and historic Major in decades that will live long into the memory and a real 'where were you when' moment. The US PGA gave Scottie Schefller the chance to remind the world he is still about after Rory mania took hold with many predicting the Grand Slam! He won the PGA fairly easily and made a statement that he is very much still the World Number-1. The US Open was farcical at times, maybe the most brutal setup ever seen at a Major. I think they may have got the balance wrong with that one which I feel took a lot of the skill out of the short game in particular. The short game was simply about hacking it out where luck played too much of a part. JJ Spaun of course holed that famous 66 foot putt to win, what a moment for him. What a lesson you can learn from him after a horrible start to his round he had the mental fortitude to hang in and pick some birdies up on the back nine.

I really enjoyed The Open at Royal Portrush. I was there on the Thursday and Friday and it was interesting watching the players navigate the course. I was there just a month before filming a preview video of what to expect when you miss each green. It was ironic that arriving on Thursday morning I walked down the left side of the 2nd and saw Dustin Johnson playing the exact shot I had discussed in the video, he actually had two goes at it after his first one came back to his feet! The creativity and finesse required around the greens at Portrush was incredible. I saw more release-2's than 1's as players required softer landing and higher spinning shots into the firm, fast greens.
It was nice to meet many 3 Release disciples in the crowd and hear how their short games have improved. I wasn't prepared for how much I would be stopped but it has reminded me how I have the opportunity to really help so many people with their golf. Golf is such a huge part of life for so many and I am determined to help as many people as possible enjoy the game even more.

It was no surprise to see Scottie Schefller win in a comfortable fashion, his iron play was sensational that week so his short game wasn't required much. I saw him play a few holes and he strolls around in such a calm, confident manner. He doesn't get too up or too down, another lesson we can all take from him into our own game.
That has moved Scheffler onto 4 Major wins, obviously he will be targeting the US Open next year to complete the career Grand Slam, I wonder if he will go on to challenge Tiger's 15!?
